Poor Tires and Several Cautions Cause Trouble on the Track For BristolChris Bristol #92 MBNA Chevrolet Hickory Motor Speedway, 55-lap event Start: 11th HUNTERSVILLE, NC (June 2, 2005) - Chris Bristol was back at Hickory Motor Speedway last Saturday night to compete in the 55-lap Late Model race. Although his car performed great in practice, the tires selected for the car did not match up to the track, causing the car to handle poorly most of the night. After battling the ill-handling car during qualifying, Chris started the race from the 11th position. He continued to struggle with the car during a majority of the race. More bad luck came for Chris as three cautions came out within laps 34 and 45, making it difficult for Chris to build momentum towards the end of the race. After the final restart on lap 45, Chris raced the remaining 10 laps and managed to get a respectable 8th place out of the 24 cars competing. Chris will be back at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 4th to compete in another 55-lap Late Model event. This upcoming weekend marks the 55th anniversary of Hickory Motor Speedway. Aric Almirola did not race this past weekend; he will race next weekend at the Myrtle Beach Speedway for a 101-lap race on June 4th. |
