BRISTOL, TN (August 27, 2006) – J.J. Yeley endured a long evening of racing Friday night at Bristol Motor Speedway, and he came away with his best finish ever at the half-mile facility. Yeley finished 12th in his Vigoro / Home Depot Chevrolet and remains fifth in the overall driver standings, just 38 markers behind fourth-place Clint Bowyer. “I’ve been pretty honest when I’ve said that Bristol is my least favorite race track,” said Yeley. “From a fan’s point of view, it’s awesome. The night race is just an electric atmosphere. But from my vantage point, the racing is just not what I prefer. In order to pass at Bristol, you have to move someone. I’d rather not race that way, but at Bristol, it’s all you can do.”

Yeley started from the 19th position and slowly and methodically moved his way forward throughout the event. He narrowly escaped several close calls and crashes during the 250-lapper, but he completed every one of them and finished 12th. Yeley’s previous best Bristol finish was 15th in August of 2004.

Next week the Busch Series competitors will travel to California for Saturday’s Ameriquest 300. The green flag will drop at 10:00 PM EST on TNT.
