Race 14 New Fans, New Friends, New Day

From the playing of the national anthem to the waving of the checkered flag Marc Davis and crew knew this evening was going to be long. Davis the Joe Gibbs Racing development driver of the number 92 Levi Strauss Signature Coke Cola Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS won the pole award for being the fast qualifier for the 5th time.

Lap one side by side Davis and Jesse LeFevers put on a crowd pleasing show for 14 laps when points leader Matt DiBenedetto and second place points driver Andy Mercer tangle with lap traffic in a huge 4 car pile up. After the clean up the rains came forcing a 2 hour delay. The Joe Gibbs Racing development and NASCAR's Drive for Diversity driver battled again side by side with LeFevers. Both drivers gave the crowd a true short track experience with each driver having his fans cheer their every move. Davis in his Levi Strauss Signature Coke Cola Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS settled into the second place position as the checkered flag fell. Davis celebrates an amazing red hot streak of 6 wins, 4 seconds, 2 thirds and a fourth place finish.

BACK UP FRONT....After a disappointing mid-season loss of 50 points, a pole award and what would have been his seventh first place finish Davis is now tied for first place with only two remaining points races. "My focus is on winning the championship" said Davis following his blazing march back to the top. "Marc knows how to win and he gets better and smarter with each race" complimented crew chief Scott Kilbury.

NEW FANS....Attending the races were first time race watchers who have become Marc Davis Fans. The group of teenagers were from the Hickory NC Youth Council of the NAACP. As a race follow up Davis joined the teenagers Sunday afternoon at the Hickory Museum to celebrate the 'NASCAR INSPIRED' exhibit. The Levi Straus Signature driver presented Levi souvenirs and two lucky teens were awarded Levi Jackets just in time for going back to school.

"Levi Strauss Signature is a great sponsor and provided gifts for these new NASCAR and Marc Davis fans. The NAACP purchased tickets and the kids had a wonderful time. They will be back in September to see Marc race again" said Harry Davis Marc's dad.
