2006 Joe Gibbs Racing Fall FanFest Scheduled for October 13
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C., (Sept. 19, 2006) – The fifth annual Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) Fall FanFest will be held on Fri., Oct. 13, where from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. EDT, drivers from JGR’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, NASCAR Busch Series and driver development teams will be available for autographs at the team’s headquarters in Huntersville. Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin and J.J. Yeley, along with Hall of Fame Racing’s Tony Raines, will be on hand, as will JGR development driver Aric Almirola – who is competing in a full NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule while running a part-time Busch Series schedule for JGR. Also on site will be fellow development driver Marc Davis. Joey Logano and Woody Howard will be unable to attend due to a race in Ohio. This year, Stewart, Hamlin and Yeley designated their charities of choice so that funds raised from Fall FanFest could be split evenly among the three organizations. Stewart selected The Tony Stewart Foundation, Hamlin selected The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Yeley selected St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Beginning at 9 a.m., fans in the donation line may request an autograph from Stewart, Hamlin or Yeley. The first 250 fans requesting a Stewart autograph will be given a bracelet and directed to the appropriate line. The same process will follow for Hamlin and Yeley. In order to receive an autograph from Stewart, Hamlin or Yeley, one must make a $20 donation. Fans wishing to receive an autograph from all three Nextel Cup drivers will be required to make three separate $20 donations. Fans may only receive one wristband per person, per driver. Only one autographed item per person, per driver is permitted. Each driver will be seated at different locations with staggered autograph session times, allowing fans making multiple donations the time to receive multiple autographs. Hamlin’s session is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Yeley’s for 10 a.m. and Stewart’s for 11 a.m. No donation is required for the 9:15 a.m. autograph session featuring Raines or the 10 a.m. autograph session featuring Almirola and Davis. In the event of on-track rescheduling due to weather or other uncontrollable events during the Charlotte race weekend, the JGR Fall FanFest is subject to change or cancellation. Please note that no alcoholic beverages are allowed on the premises. The 2005 Fall FanFest brought out a record 5,000 fans who generously donated over $20,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and Samaritan’s Purse.
