JGR Busch Series Race Report - Bristol

Aric Almirola, driver of the No. 20 Rockwell Automation Chevrolet, led the two-car Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) contingent at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway by finishing 10th in Friday night’s Food City 250 NASCAR Busch Series race. Almirola rallied from his 27th-place starting spot to collect his fifth career top-10 Busch Series finish.

Brad Coleman, driver of the No. 18 Carino’s Italian Grill Chevrolet for JGR, started second and finished 17th.

There were 11 caution periods for 57 laps, with seven drivers failing to finish the 250-lap race.

With 26 of 35 Busch Series races in the books, the No. 20 car is fourth in owner points, 224 points behind the leading No. 60 car of Roush Fenway Racing, and a healthy 465 points ahead of the fifth-place No. 33 car of Kevin Harvick Inc. The No. 18 car is 18th in owner points, 65 points outside the top-15.

Kasey Kahne scored his seventh career Busch Series victory and his second this season by winning the Food City 250. Jason Leffler, David Reutimann, Kyle Busch and Scott Wimmer secured the rest of the top-five. David Ragan, Brad Keselowski, Clint Bowyer, Jamie McMurray and Almirola comprised the remainder of the top-10.

The next event on the Busch Series schedule is the Sept. 1 Camping World 300 at California Speedway in Fontana. The race starts at 10 p.m. EDT with live coverage provided by ESPN2 beginning with its pre-race show at 9:30 p.m.
