Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 20 Rockwell Automation Chevrolet, led the two-car Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) contingent at California Speedway in Fontana by finishing second in Saturday night’s Camping World 300 NASCAR Busch Series race.

After starting on the pole, Hamlin survived a mid-race spin and rebounded for his eighth top-five finish in 2007.

Kevin Conway, driver of the No. 18 Z-Line Designs/Wal-Mart Chevrolet for JGR, finished 20th to score his career best finish in the Busch Series.

There were six caution periods for 28 laps, with 16 drivers failing to finish the 150-lap race.

With 27 of 35 Busch Series races in the books, the No. 20 car is fourth in owner points, 207 points behind the leading No. 29 car of Richard Childress Racing, and a healthy 489 points ahead of the fifth-place No. 33 car of Kevin Harvick Inc. The No. 18 car is 18th in owner points, 41 points outside the top-15.

Jeff Burton scored his 25th career Busch Series victory by winning the Camping World 300. Kyle Busch, Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson and Clint Bowyer secured the rest of the top-five. Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, Jamie McMurray, Robby Gordon and David Ragan comprised the remainder of the top-10.

The next event on the Busch Series schedule is the Sept. 7 Emerson Radio 250 at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. The race starts at 8 p.m. EDT with live coverage provided by ESPN2 beginning with its pre-race show at 7:30 p.m.

The race will be a homecoming of sorts for Conway, as the driver of the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Chevrolet is from Lynchburg, Va.
