Schiller-Pfeiffer® to Serve as Associate Sponsor for Joe Gibbs Racing Development Driver Marc Davis in NASCAR Camping World SeriesCompany’s Line of Outdoor Power and Gardening Equipment will Rotate Logos on Davis’ No. 18 Toyota Camry in 15 Races
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C., (April 6, 2008) – Schiller-Pfeiffer, Inc., a maker of outdoor lawn, turf care and gardening products, will sponsor Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Marc Davis in 15 NASCAR Camping World Series races in 2008. The Southampton, Pa.-based company will rotate its Little Wonder, Mantis and affiliated BOB-CAT brands on Davis’ No. 18 Toyota Camry as the 17-year-old competes for a second season in the Camping World Series. “NASCAR in general, and Joe Gibbs Racing and Marc Davis in particular, are fantastic brands to be associated with,” said Greg Heyer, director for distribution and rental sales, Schiller-Pfeiffer. “Our customers see real value in partnerships like this, and this relationship provides numerous opportunities to grow our business.” Schiller-Pfeiffer and its brands will make their collective NASCAR debut April 10 at Phoenix International Raceway in the Camping World Series West division. The logos of Little Wonder, Mantis and BOB-CAT will rotate during Davis’ entire 13-race Camping World Series East schedule, as well as during his return visit to the ranks of the Camping World Series West on June 21 when he competes at the Infineon Raceway road course in Sonoma, Calif. “We’ve been very impressed with Marc’s progress, as he’s been a part of our development program for three years,” said J.D. Gibbs, president of Joe Gibbs Racing. “Having Schiller-Pfeiffer help support Marc’s efforts is huge, for it allows us as a race team to give Marc everything he needs to be successful.” An African-American who has ascended from racing Late Model stock cars at Carolina bullrings to campaigning full-fledged stock cars in the regional Camping World Series East and West divisions, Davis has made the most of his opportunity with Joe Gibbs Racing’s driver development program. Davis won multiple races at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway in the Limited Late Model and Late Model ranks, and when he won his first race on March 25, 2006, he became just the second African-American to win a stock car race at Hickory, joining former Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Chris Bristol. Davis moved with his father, Harry, to Mooresville, N.C., from Silver Spring, Md., to pursue a racing career, and he used his success at Hickory to move into the Camping World Series East division, the regional NASCAR touring series that features a 13-race schedule at tracks predominantly based in New England and the Mid-Atlantic. With backing from Joe Gibbs Racing, Davis scored five top-five and seven top-10 finishes in 2007, including a season-best runner-up effort on April 19 to Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Joey Logano in the West Series race at Phoenix International Raceway. “I’m doing exactly what I’ve always wanted to do,” said Davis, who continues his quest toward a full-time drive in NASCAR’s pinnacle division – the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. “Everything I’ve done in life has been about racing, and to have this kind of opportunity means everything. I sincerely appreciate the support that Schiller-Pfeiffer is giving to me and Joe Gibbs Racing.” |
