This will be another first for Denny, who has made an impressive series of debuts this season as a Joe Gibbs Racing developmental driver. Denny scored a top 10 finish in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut this summer at Indianapolis Raceway Park. He followed up that impressive debut with a third place finish in his first ever ARCA Remax Series race at Talladega this fall.

Taking advantage of an off weekend for the No. 18 Vigoro / Home Depot Chevrolet piloted by J.J. Yeley, Joe Gibbs Racing decided to give Denny some seat time in a Busch car.
“Since this weekend’s race at Darlington was not on J.J. Yeley’s or his sponsor’s schedule, we thought this was an opportune time to give Denny some seat time in a Busch car,” said Steve DeSouza, Vice President of Busch Operations for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Hamlin will drive one of the chassis that Bobby Labonte used earlier this year, and the car will be adorned with the insignia of a new offering in the Joe Gibbs Performance line.
