A NASCAR Cup Series four-tire pit stop is broken up into nine specific statistics based on position that Joe Gibbs Racing uses to determine speed and efficiency for each member of a five-person pit crew.


Jackman Stats
RSTI (Right Side Tire Install) – The time it takes the jackman to mount a new wheel on the right side of the car. The clock starts when the car stops and ends when the jackman’s new right-side wheel is mounted.
RSLS-JM (Right Side to Left Side Jackman Transition) – The time it takes the jackman to move from the right to the left side of the car. The clock starts when he drops the jack on the right side and stops once he jacks the car up on the left side.
LSTI (Left Side Tire Install) – The time it takes the jackman to lift and mount a new wheel on the left side of the car. The clock starts when the car is lifted up on the left side and ends when the jackman’s new left-side wheel is mounted.

Tire Carrier Stats
RSTI (Right Side Tire Install) – The time it takes the tire carrier to lift and mount a new wheel on the right side of the car. The clock starts when the car stops and ends when the carrier’s new right-side wheel is mounted.
RSLS-CA (Right Side to Left Side Carrier Transition) – The time it takes to carry the old right-side wheel and tire around the front the of the car, collect a new wheel and tire, and mount it onto the left-side hub.
LSTI (Left Side Tire Install) – The time it takes the tire carrier to mount a new wheel on the left side of the car. The clock starts when the car is lifted up on the left side and ends when the carrier’s new left-side wheel is mounted.


Tire Changer Stats
RSTR (Right Side Tire Removal) – The time it takes the tire changer to remove the used wheel on the right side of the car. The clock starts when the car stops and ends when the tire changer’s old right-side wheel is removed.
RSLS-TCH (Right Side to Left Side Tire Changer Transition) – The time it takes the tire changer to move from the right side of the car to the left side. The clock begins once the tire changer completes install of the right-side lug nut and stops once the tire changer removes the left-side lug nut.
LSTR (Left Side Tire Removal) – The time it takes the tire changer to remove the used wheel on the left side of the car. The clock starts when the car is lifted up on the left side and ends when the tire changer’s old left-side wheel is removed.

Gasman Stats
RFS1 (Refueling Speed Can 1) – The time it takes the gasman to plug the first fuel can into to the fuel opening once the car comes to a stop. The clock starts when the car stops and ends when the gasman plugs in/starts flowing fuel with the first fuel can.
RFS2 (Refueling Speed Can 2) – The time it takes the gasman to plug the second fuel can into to the fuel opening after removing the first fuel can. The clock starts when the gasman unplugs/stops flowing fuel with the first fuel can, and ends when the gasman plugs in/starts flowing fuel with the second fuel can.
